Coaches Corner

Dan Durst

Dan Durst is an experienced baseball scout with strong player evaluation and interpersonal skills.

Coach Durst was drafted in the first round by the Cincinnati Reds as a pitcher in 1981, and played baseball for the University of Missouri Tigers from 1981-83. Dan was also the pitching coach for the University of Wisconsin @ Madison from 1985-86.

Dan Durst has been a professional and amateur scout for nearly 20 years, ranging from the Minnesota Twins, Pittsburg Pirates, Cleveland Indians, and currently the Midwest Area Scout for the Chicago White Sox.

Coach Durst specializes in pitching while doing individual private lessons and running camps.


Matt Sibigtroth

Matt Sibigtroth is a 2001 graduate of Hampshire High School where he was a 4 year varsity starter. While at Hampshire, Matt was a 4 year All Conference First Team and 3 year All Area First Team selection. Matt was voted team MVP all 4 years.

He was draft pick of the Chicago White Sox in 2001 after he graduated from Hampshire.

Matt then played college baseball for the Kishwaukee College Kougars where he was a starting mid-infielder both years. He was in the top of most offensive categories while at Kish and was named to the All Region IV Team because of it.

Matt was again drafted by the Chicago White Sox after his freshman year at Kishwaukee in 2002.

Matt then transferred to the University of Dayton, where again he was a starting mid-infielder and one of their leaders at the plate.

Coach Sib has also coached at the High School level as a Varsity Asst. at Marian Central Catholic HS under Head Coach Gregg Wikierak, and was a part of their championship team in 2005 that went 30-8 and made a trip down state which made them one of the Elite Eight teams in the state.

Matt Sibigtroth specializes in hitting, fielding, and pitching while running camps at PCA, doing individual private lessons, and working with travel teams in the off season.


Ty Marotz

Ty Marotz is a 2000 graduate of CL Central HS where he spent 3 years on the varsity team as Team MVP and Team Captain. Coach Marotz was also named to the All-Conference and All-Area teams.

After HS Ty went on to play for Mesa Community College in Mesa, AZ. Ty was a 2 year starting pitcher and led his team in innings pitched and strikeouts each year. While at Mesa, he was also selected to the NJCAA All Star Game.

Arizona State University was Ty's next stop. In 2005 he made appearances as a reliever and a starter. The Sun Devils also went to the College World Series that year which included players Dustin Pedroia of the Boston Red Sox and Travis Buck of the Oakland Athletics.

Coach Ty Marotz is currently playing professional baseball for the Souix City Explorers. This past summer, Ty put up some impressive numbers. In 40 appearances, he logged 69 innings and had 76 K's to only 26 BB's. His ERA was a miniscule 3.13 and his opponents only hit .222 off of him. Ty's team manager is ex-Cub Les Lancaster.

Coach Marotz specializes in pitching and hitting while running camps at PCA and doing individual private lessons.


Phil Pupillo

Phil Pupillo graduated from East Leyden High School and signed with Oklahoma State University to play Division 1 football. After graduation, Phil coached little league at Crystal Lake National for 6 years. While being head coach, they won the local city series championship.

He has held many coaching positions since then coaching the Crystal Lake Cyclones 13 year olds, the Sage Sting 14 year olds, and the McHenry County Hurricanes 16 and 17 year olds.

He is also a Fox Valley Blue Umpire celebrating his 8th year.

Coach Pupillo specializes in catching and hitting while running camps, doing individual private lessons and working with travel teams in the off season.


Glen Pecoraro

Glen played baseball at Marian Central HS from 1982-1986. After high school he went on to play at McHenry County College from 1986-1988. After two years at MCC, he transfered to UIC and played from 1988-1990.

Coach Pec began his coaching career as a varsity assistant under Gregg Wikierak at Marian Central from 1991-1994. From 1994-1997 he was a varsity assistant under Jay Sargeant at Crystal Lake Central. In 1997 he became the Head Baseball Coach at Prairie Ridge HS in Crystal Lake. He was the Wolves head coach until 2006, and during those 9 seasons, PR had 221 wins and 106 losses, won 7 straight regional championships, 2 FVC conference championships, and 4 FVC tourney championships. Coach Pecoraro sent 30 student/athletes on to college careers.

Coach Pec specializes in hitting and pitching while doing individual private lessons.


Paul Belo

The 2009 season will mark Paul's 7th at the helm of the Palatine Pirate Baseball Program. Coach Belo enters the 2009 season with a career record 217-176 (106-103, at Palatine). Coach Belo is a product of the Mid-Suburban League, having prepped as an All-Conference athlete at Hoffman Estates High School in 1985, and a member of the school's first ever Elite Eight Qualifier. As an accredited coach and clinician Paul Belo's efforts have been recognized on the local and national level. Under coach Belo 14 players have signed to play at the Division I level, 4 have signed to play professionally. In all, 44 of Paul's players have advanced their career at the collegiate level.

For his efforts in the Spring of 2000, the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association awarded him "Area Coach of the Year."

A Graduate of University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) in 1990, Coach Belo was a member of two record-breaking teams in 1988 and 1989 respectively.

Currently coach Belo holds a Masters Degrees in Educational Administration from Roosevelt University and Curriculum and Instruction from Olivet Nazerene University.

Coach Belo specializes in hitting while doing individual private lessons.


Linda Pupillo

Linda Pupillo played basketball and graduated from Maine West High School in Des Plaines, IL, where she was elected to the All-State Tournament Team, after her team finished 4th in state.

After graduating from Maine West, Linda played for the University of Nevada-Reno, a Division I school, where she was described as one of the most versitile players as an incoming freshman.

Linda specializes in basketball while running camps and doing individual private lessons.


Kelli Gallas

Kelli Gallas comes to PCA from Cary Grove High School. She graduated CGHS in 2001.

During her illustrious high school career she recorded:
75 varsity wins (listed IHSA record), 815 k's (listed IHSA record), 35 shutouts (listed IHSA record), 8 no-hitters (listed IHSA record), .348 lifetime batting average, 88 for 89 in stolen bases, FVC All-Conference - 4 year varsity, All-Area First Team '99 - '01, All-State 3rd Team '99 - '01, Northwest Herald Softball Player of the Year in 1999.

After high school she played Division I at Butler University, where she posted a 2-0 record her freshman season. Kelli then transfered to Robert Morris College.

Coach Gallas specializes in girls' fastpitch pitching and hitting while doing individual private lessons.


Marcus Robinson

Bigtime Sports founder and owner Marcus Robinson, an 11 year veteran of the NFL found that dedication, hard work and perseverance is what it takes to become the best you can be at anything you do. Marcus was born in Fort Valley Georgia. He achieved most of his high school honors in football. He was recognized by the state of Georgia with All State Honors (1992-93) and All Middle Georgia Honors in those same years. Marcus was in a senior class that led their team to a 14-1 record.

In 1993 Marcus attended the University of South Carolina where he pursued a degree in English Elementary Education. During his college years Marcus earned honors in track and field. In 1996 he ran away with All American Honors in the 100 meter outdoor championships. Marcus also set records at South Carolina with time of 10.21 second in the 100 meter dash and 21.47 seconds in the 200 meter dash. Marcus recorded 52 catches for 736yds and 3 tds while attending South Carolina.

In 1997 Marcus was drafted in the 4th round by the Chicago Bears. He played with the Bears for 6 years. In 1999 Marcus set a single season record with 1400 yds receiving. That year he ranked 4th in most yards in the NFL. Marcus went on to leave the Bears in 2003. Marcus played one full season with the Baltimore Ravens and set a single game record that year for the Ravens with 4 touchdowns in one game. He led the team that year with 6 receiving touchdowns. The next year Marcus signed with the Minnesota Vikings. Marcus played 3 seasons with the Vikings while recording 20 touchdowns in 3 years. He also became one of two players to be with 3 different teams and score 3 touchdowns in one game. The other receiver to do this was the Buffalo Bills Terrell Owens.

Coach Robinson specializes in all aspects of football as well as speed and conditioning.
